Not every damaged section needs replacing. Garage door panel repair is a real option on some doors and a waste of money on others, and the difference usually comes down to what the door is made of and how deep the damage went.

Why the door's construction decides it
A single-skin steel door is one layer of steel with air behind it, so a tech can get a tool in and work a shallow dent back toward flat. Most doors fitted in the DMV over the last twenty years are not built that way. An insulated door bonds polyurethane or polystyrene directly to the inside of the skin, which is what makes it stiff and quiet, and it also means there is nothing behind the dent to push against. The other limit is the finish. Once the paint has cracked along a crease the panel holds water at that line and starts rusting from the outside in, and straightening it does not change that.
